KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting was adjourned on Monday thanks to the lack of quorum.
As soon as Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar began the process to begin discussions on the Bill on Local Elections, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party lawmaker Dilli Prasad Kafle raised the question about the quorum.
Then, Speaker Magar ordered that the number of lawmakers present in the discussion be counted – just to find that it was 116.
The Parliament Regulations require that at least one-fourth of the lawmakers should be present in any House meeting.
Following that, Speaker Gharti announced that the meeting was postponed till Tuesday.
